- Phase II to expand to 1817 ITC e-Choupals covering approx. 10,000 villages across 4 states in India – UP, Maharashtra, Rajasthan & Madhya Pradesh.

- Pilot project in 619 ITC e-Choupals covering 3095 villages in western UP witnessed a positive response from employers keen on recruiting rural talent.

New Delhi, March: (a joint initiative by and ITC e-Choupal) has started to reap benefits of harnessing rural jobseeker talent. Within 7 months of its launch, the portal targeted toward the rural job seekers facilitated offers to over 100 candidates across 619 ITC e-Choupals in Western UP. This in itself is a feat, considering that only 38 recruiters were involved in the pilot phase.

Delighted at the results of the pilot phase, Mr. Sanjay Modi, Managing Director, Monster India, Middle East and South East Asia said. “It is heartening to see how technology can transform lives. was conceptualized by in collaboration with ITC e-Choupal with an aim to bring infrastructure to the table, empowering rural youth in India and connecting them to the economic mainstream with the help of Information Technology. In the pilot phase we successfully set the machinery in 619 ITC e-Choupals in Western Uttar Pradesh. In Phase II we intend to scale up operations to 1817 ITC e-Choupals in approximately 10,000 villages in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra very rapidly. We hope this initiative will contribute towards building a brighter tomorrow of the rural job seekers.

The initiative was launched in August 2009 by and ITC e-Choupal, with the objective of linking rural youth to job opportunities in Indian corporate sectors. Now with the world economy emerging out of the recession, and sectors like IT, Banking, Construction, Retail etc. looking up for talent sourcing, this initiative will boost in their outlook with the successful establishment of the employment platform which has already been accepted as a viable platform for talent sourcing.

The site has gathered a total of 325 live jobs postings from the 38 recruiting companies, including those from leading corporates across sectors like Construction, Banking, Insurance, Retail and Security. The pilot phase witnessed a positive response from employers keen on recruiting rural talent. Many more companies are in the pipeline to hire more and more rural candidates via
