THE FIRST CHEVROLET GLOBAL INDIAN MUSIC AWARDS 2010 (GIMA) TO BE SHOWN EXCLUSIVELY ON COLORS
Mumbai, December 2, 2010: COLORS, the leading entertainment channel has
acquired exclusive rights to telecast the inaugural edition of Chevrolet Global Indian
Music Awards (GIMA) on 5th December 2010 at 8PM. GIMA is the first multi-genre
music awards which will honour and applaud talent across Film and Non-Film music
with the vision of giving different music genius the same platform, importance and
recognition. Legendary singer Asha Bhosle is the goodwill ambassador for the
Chevrolet Global Indian Music Awards (GIMA).

Being the introductory year for GIMA, COLORS will telecast GIMA exclusively on this occasion. Talking about this development, Ashvini Yardi, Programming Head,

Putting an amazing performance will be the renowned singer and music director
Shankar Mahadevan who will pay a tribute to the Melody Queen and the Legend Lata
Mangeshkar. Salman ‘Dabangg’ Khan will shake his legs on the Dabangg Hits. Also
enthralling the audience with her performance will be Kareena Kapoor. Saif Ali Khan
will be seen on strings and performing for the audience with Pritam. Sonu Nigam will
be seen giving an amazing feat by his noteworthy imitating acts on great singers like
Rehman, Shankar, Pritam, Adnan Sami and others.
GIMA will see the legends and new talent equally vying for the honours in the non-
film music category. Nominations include Ustad Rashid Khan, Ustad Zakir Hussain,
Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Dr L Subramaniam, Shubha Mudgal, Lata
Mangeshkar, Kailash Kher, Mohit Chauhan and Purnima Chaudhuri. The Best
Non-Film Song will see familiar titles with 'Aman Ki Asha', 'Bas Ek Baat Ka Humko
Gila', 'Chaandan Mein', 'Fitoor', 'Let's Go To Mumbai City' and 'Marhabba Jaanam'
vying for the GIMA trophy. In addition to the ten non-film and 11 film music
categories, there will be an award for the Best Anti-Piracy Initiative.
