Shweta Kawatra dons the role of a powerful Cop!
April , 2011: She took over as a bad girl in the telly town and the wicked one as well. Then she
moved on to playing a forensic expert. She has always played the strongest character and yet
she has pulled off the job with so much ease and conviction. Who is she? Shweta Kawatra of
course! Back on small screen after a year, she will be seen playing an utterly positive character
of an SSP Amrita Tiwari in COLORS’ Phulwa.

Shweta will be seen portraying a very powerful and a significant character of a diligent and
an honest cop who will be the voice of the weak and a threat for the Thakurs and a support to
Phulwa. And a lot has been worked on her looks. Sporting a very raw and a desi dialect, she will
be seen in a cameo role as a tough police inspector. Sometimes a single ray of hope can cast
away dark shadows! While there are enough goons sent to kill Phulwa, Amrita Tiwari comes as
an honest cop who believes in ‘Justice without discrimination’. She will be seen investigating a
case and finds out that Phulwa is a key witness. She promises Phulwa her complete support to
stand against Shankar.
With ‘Amrita Tiwari’ Shweta will be seen in a completely new avatar, sporting a desi and raw
dialect playing a very challenging role. Shweta has always accepted strong roles putting up an
electrifying performance each time. “Amrita Tiwari’s character is a complete contrast of the
characters I have played so far. From playing modern suave bahu to a prim and proper forensic
expert to the new aged woman, i have played many roles which have been urban. This is the
first time, I will be playing a role of an honest cop with a desi dialect which doesn’t match my
original personality either. It is going to be extremely challenging but fun. Also one can learn
a lot on –sets and doesn’t have to go anywhere else. Even the little girl Jannat is so pro, her
character Phulwa. I completely follow my heart when it comes to acting. It’s wonderful to be a
part of Phulwa and I have a lot of scope to perform. Amrita Tiwari’s character is brilliant and
well-etched. Plus a well-defined character is always welcome. Playing a completely off beat
character is not very easy but that’s where the challenge lies as an actress” adds Shweta.
Will Amrita Tiwari stand up for Phulwa from the spell-cast of Thakurs?
