INTERNATIONAL WOMAN’S DAY ~ Tata Steel dedicates this day to its female task force ~
Jamshedpur-09th March, 2011 – On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Tata Steel saluted the spirit of its female task force
through a series of activities hosted for its female employees as well as for the women residing in
its vicinity. Here’s a brief look at the day’s events:
At Tribal Culture Centre
Tata Steel encouraged all rural and semi-urban womenfolk around Jamshedpur to participate
in this day-long programme at Tribal Culture Centre. Aptly themed, “Equal access to Education,
Training, and Science and Technology – pathway to Decent Work for Women”, the function was
graced by the presence of Mrs Surekha Nerurkar and was attended by nearly 500 women. Several
Selh Help Group members who have been elected as the Mukhiyas,

Ward Members and other
Neelkanthan awardees were honoured today. The rural SHG women and Mahila Samakhya of East
Singhbhum put up stalls and cultural shows and other programmes on women empowerment.
Tejaswinis of Tata Steel visit Nirmal Hridya
A visit to the “Nirmal Hridya” (Missionary Of Charity),Baradwari, was the Tejaswinis’ way
of observing International Women’s Day. They met the elderly women, especially, shared
few moments of happiness. They presented them sweets, cake, fruits and clothes. The visit
was appreciated by the sisters of Nirmal Hridaya who thanked them for their concern and
thoughtfulness to share moments with those who have been left alone by their families. The
Tejaswins also met Mrs. Sureka Nerurkar and Mrs Raghunath Pandey on the “Women’s Day” and
received words of inspiration and appreciation from them on this occasion.
Corporate Sustainability Services (CSS) celebrate Women’s Day in a ‘sporty’ way!
It was a day of sports for the female employees of CSS division. Organised at JRD Tata Sports
Complex, the event included fun-filled games like Events like tug of war, bucket the ball, walking
race and musical chair that was not only thrilling but also helped spread a sense of camaraderie
amongst the ladies present. Ms Tripty Roy, Ethics Counsellor and Ms Jaysree Madhusudanan were
present as Chief Guest and Guest of Honor on the occasion. Ms Tripty Roy gave a brief introduction
of SWATI and explained the role of women in balancing personal and professional life.
